Getting Started

What is LandedCost.io?

LandedCost.io is a profitability and import cost calculator built for e-commerce sellers and importers. It calculates your true landed cost per unit — including freight, duties, taxes, insurance, and every hidden fee — so you can price your products with confidence and know your real margins before you sell.

Who is this for?

Anyone who imports goods and sells them — whether on Amazon, your own store, or wholesale. If you're currently tracking costs in spreadsheets and guessing at margins, this tool replaces that guesswork with precise, automated calculations.

How do I get started?

Sign up for a free account — no credit card needed. Create your first shipment, add your products and costs, and you'll immediately see your landed cost per unit. The whole setup takes about five minutes.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan gives you 1 active shipment with up to 5 products, basic landed cost calculations, and CSV export. It's a great way to see how the platform works before committing to a paid plan.

Costs & Calculations

What exactly is "landed cost"?

Landed cost is the total cost of getting a product from your supplier to your warehouse (or Amazon's). It includes the product price, international freight, customs duties, import VAT/GST, insurance, local delivery, inspection fees, and any other cost incurred along the way. Knowing this number is essential to pricing your products profitably.

How does cost allocation work?

When a shared cost (like freight) applies to an entire shipment containing multiple products, the platform allocates it proportionally. You can choose from six methods: by units, by weight, by volume, by product value, by chargeable weight, or split equally. Each method suits different scenarios — weight-based works well for heavy goods, value-based for high-value items.

Does it handle duty and VAT?

Yes. On the Starter plan and above, you can configure a tax model for each shipment — including duty rate, VAT/GST rate, and whether duty is calculated on CIF or FOB value. The engine computes the exact duty and tax per unit automatically.

Can I calculate Amazon FBA profitability?

On every plan, including Free. Enter your Amazon selling price, and the platform factors in referral fees, FBA fulfilment fees, storage costs, and your landed cost to show your true net profit and ROI per unit.

Exchange Rates

Where do exchange rates come from?

Live rates are sourced from the European Central Bank via the Frankfurter API. They update daily and cover all major trading currencies. You can also enter manual rates if you've locked in a specific rate with your bank.

Can I use a historical rate for a past shipment?

Yes. When viewing a shipment, you can select a specific date to pull the historical exchange rate from that day. This is useful for reconciling costs against invoices or bank statements.

Plans & Billing

Can I switch plans?

Yes, at any time. Upgrade or downgrade from your dashboard settings. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of your current billing cycle.

Is there a contract?

No. All plans are month-to-month, or annual if you choose the discounted yearly billing. Cancel anytime — your data remains accessible until the end of your paid period.

What counts as an "active shipment"?

Any shipment you haven't archived. Once a shipment is complete and you archive it, it no longer counts toward your plan's limit. Archived shipments are still fully accessible for reporting and reference.

Do you offer refunds?

If you're not satisfied within the first 14 days of a paid plan, contact us and we'll issue a full refund — no questions asked.

Data & Security

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is transmitted over SSL/TLS encryption. Your database is hosted on Supabase with dedicated access controls, and we never share or sell your data. API endpoints are rate-limited to prevent abuse.

Can I export my data?

Absolutely. Every plan includes CSV export. Starter and above also support PDF report generation. You own your data and can export it at any time.

Can I import data from spreadsheets?

On Starter and Professional plans, yes. The CSV import tool lets you upload costs and products in bulk, map columns to the right fields, and validate everything before importing.

Product Catalog & Suppliers

What is the product catalog?

The catalog is a central directory of all your products — with details like SKU, weight, dimensions, HS codes, and supplier info. When you add a product to a shipment, you can pull it from your catalog instead of re-entering everything from scratch.

Can I manage my suppliers?

The supplier directory lets you track supplier details, link them to products, and see which suppliers you're importing from most. It's available on all plans — Free gives you 5 suppliers, Starter gives you 10, and Professional gives you unlimited.
